The series has seen a widespread usage online, due to the ridiculous nature of the experiments.
The phenomenon first emerged on the internet on May 29th, 2013, when Symscape published a blog post, titled “Elephants and Computational Fluid Dynamics.”
“Aerodynamics of a cow” was first posted to Reddit by u/mattythedog on September 1st, 2015, in the r/interestingasfuck sub.
From 2015 to 2020, the format has spread to numerous sites, most of which include Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Imgur.
