The first instance of the phrase “Bold of you to assume” in a humorous manner online emerged in a tweet by Twitter user @dril on July 19th, 2014, commenting on flying a “good year” blimp, despite having a bad year thus far.

Another popular case, that spread the meme to Tumblr appeared in the post of draeneis, shared on October 10th, 2017, sharing a joke about coke removing rust from his body.

Users that didn’t treat the joke accordingly, were treated with the comment of the OP on March 20th, 2018, saying “Bold of you to assume I have blood”.

This marked the beginning of “Bold of you to assume” statements on Tumbr, which became frequent by the middle of the summer of 2018.

By July, the meme had also made its appearance on Reddit, being featured on numerous screenshots on the r/Tumblr subreddit.
