Deedee Megadoodoo is the name of a famous news blooper from 2018, featuring news anchor Brianna Clark mispronouncing a killed police officer’s name on live TV.
The footage has inspired many to create various remixes and reaction videos.
Police officer Deidre “Dee Dee” Mengedoht was hit by a car and killed on Christmas Eve, 2018.
WSPD Local 6 News took on the responsibility to announce the officer’s funeral on December 28th, 2018. Unfortunately, when the script arrived to the officer’s rather complex name, the news reporter got confused and mispronounced the name.
A cut from this news report was uploaded the next day on Reddit’s /r/videos board, titled Deedee Megadoodoo.
The clip had gone viral in just a few days. By the end of 2018, the website Mashable published an article that labeled the incident with the title: “Painful local news fail happens at the worst possible time”.
The original clip was deleted after Clarke made a number of public apologies, but the clip got re-uploaded on YouTube, eventually launching an avalanche of remixes and reaction videos.
Deedee Megadoodoo was submitted to /r/cringe as well in 2019.
