In 2019, Avengers: Endgame was released. In the previous sequence (Infinity War) Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner) loses his family to the movie’s antagonist character, Thanos.

During Endgame, Hawkeye is approached by his ally Black Widow.

She proceeds to tell him that there might be a way to bring his family back to life. Hawkeye is rushed with emotions, as he utters the following sentences:

“Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope.”

The first image macro surfaced on Facebook page Avengers Shieldposting, with the caption saying “when your crush reacts with a heart on your pic”.
