The phrase is used both as a singular catchphrase, as well as a reaction image, combined with a screen capture of a clone, to signify that an event transpiring in reality resembles those transpiring in a virtual simulation.

Star Wars: Battlefront II was released on November 1st, 2005.

It is in this game, that the line was uttered by the clone troopers, voiced by Dave Boat.

The meme depicts a clone trooper running across the Geonosis map, paired with the caption “just like the simulations”.

The first case of the image macro was uploaded to the r/prequelmemes subreddit on January 31st, 2017, by RealBaller21.

It would also appear on Twitter, in once case referencing the Flex Tape meme.
