Multi Track Drifting

The doujinshi (fan made comic), Densha de D is known for replacing cars in the series with trains.

*MULTI-TRACK DRIFTING*

Origin

What's the origin of Multi Track Drifting?

An iconic element of street racing, thus the Initial D series as well, is drifting.

Drifting is when one takes a turn quickly, resulting in the rear end of the car (or train) to swing outwards.

In the Densha de D series, “multi track drifting” is achieved by arriving at a double-track curve and getting the rear wheel’s bogey to be on a different track than the front wheel bogey, resulting in “multi track drifting”.

Spread & Usage

How did Multi Track Drifting spread?

The meme first appeared on YTMND in 2004, then spread on to 4chan by 2006.

It wasn’t until 2017, however, that the meme turned viral, thanks to it getting mixed with the trolley problem meme on Reddit.
