The Scroll of Truth is a web comic turned exploitable image meme, created by artist Tate Parker.
The four panel comic depicts an explorer stumbling upon the titular treasure, only to see a truth he dislikes, so he throws the scripture away.

What's the origin of Scroll of Truth?
The precursor of the comic was Nathan Pyle’s story about the “Crystal that utters only truth” this comic is a lot sketchier and not as exaggerated as the one that spread.
“Scroll of Truth” was posted on Tumblr in on Febuary 2nd, 2017, by Parker with the title Truth.
In the following two months, the post had gained a large amount of appreciation in the form of Tumblr notes.

How did Scroll of Truth spread?
A blank template of the comic was uploaded to 4chan by meme distributor on March 26th, 2017 and on the very same day, a photoshop edit of the image was uploaded to Reddit’s /dankmemes thread.
The meme spread on to various social media and meme sites, including 9GAG, Tumbrl, 4chan as well as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
