The meme format is a reference to the Panzer of the Lake meme, which is based on the same concept.

The scene is from the seventh episode of the anime series, which aired on August 13^th, 2019.

During the scene, the protagonist attempts to free herself from her bonds in a pool, with her assistant rushing to her aid.

The first instance of the meme online emerged on August 14^th, 2019, when Reddit user okiinami posted it into the r/animemes subreddit.

The meme was quickly adopted by anime fans, both on and outside of the subreddit.
