The original video, featuring the Inhaling Seagull was uploaded to YouTube by user Dimaniztlt on July 17^th, 2012.

It became an exploitable image macro in 2017, starting from Twitter, spreading all over the internet.

The first case of “shut” was posted into the r/reactionpics subreddit by Reddit user u/Energizer357 on June 27^th, 2019.
