My Name is Yoshikage Kira

My name is Yoshikage Kira refers to an extensive monologue, from the manga and anime series, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, uttered by the character Yoshikage Kira, who is saying the speech in order to describe his daily routine and the way he copes with society.

Online, the monologue is spread around as a copypasta, mostly among otakus and anime communities, although it appeared in memes elsewhere as well.

The monologue was first published in the 345^th chapter of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure on Jaunary 1^st, 1994.

It also appeared in the fourth part of the anime version of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, titled Diamond is Unbreakable.

“My name is Yoshikage Kira” can be seen and heard in the 21^st episode, aired on August 19^th, 2016, with the title “Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly; Part 1”.

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I’m 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don’t smoke, but I occasionally drink. I’m in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I’m trying to explain that I’m a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn’t lose to anyone.

Posts containing elements and references to the monologue would appear on 4chan in 2016, prior to the premiere of the Yoshikage Kira episodes.

Following the release of “Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly; Part 1”, however, posts on Funnyjunk and Reddit.

Over the years, the copypasta gained great prominence among anime communities all over the web.
