Pisstake is a colloquial slang expression, used to refer to satires and parodies, aiming to mock or humiliate something, or someone, similar to the Mocking SpongeBob meme.

Origin

What's the origin of Pisstake?

Although it is not exactly clear, where the expression was first conceived, however it is a derivative of the phrase “take the piss out of something” which is also used for mocking and which appeared in the 1950’s, in the former territories of the British Empire, notably the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

“Pisstake” itself started appearing in the slang of the aforementioned countries during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

How did Pisstake spread?

The popularity of “Pisstake” started rising significantly beginning in the 1980’s, although it remained closely tied to British slang, never making a significant presence in the United States.

It was first defined on Urban Dictionary on June 21st, 2004, with several other entries to follow in later years.

Today, “Pisstake” may be encountered on social media, forums as well as YouTube videos and music, such as the 2019 release of Rzo Munna: “Pisstake”.
