What does Wasian mean?

Wasian is a term used to refer to someone of mixed ethnicity. It is used for any person of East Asia or Southeast Asian mixture with Caucasian.

The term is a blend of the words white and Asian, just like “wapanese” or “windian”.

It also has to be noted that the correct term for a person of this mixture of ethnic heritage is called a “hapa”, which is a Hawaiian pidgin word.

What's the origin of Wasian?

The exact origin of the term is unknown. The earliest mentions of it date back to the early 2000s and due to that fact “wasian” probably is more like a modern slang term rather than an older one.

The earliest entry submitted on the term was in 2002 by the user h@t3 d3m w@!$!@n$, who defined “wasian” as “A pejorative term for a caucasian person (“white” person) who mimics language, dress and mannerisms of Asain ghetto people.”

How did Wasian spread?

The term got picked up again in 2019 by TikTok as a new popular trend.

The trend called “wasian check” was about embracing the ethnic background and the culture of being a “wasian” person.

Also, the trend got so popular that many compilations were created of the videos and were uploaded to YouTube, and most of them have over 100,000 views.
