S2g is an internet abbreviation used when one vouches for the legitimacy of their statement, being a shortened version of “swear to god”.
Being so sure about themselves, people often become religious as to support their declaration and risk going to hell for blasphemy.
The expression “swear to god” was present in the English language for centuries and the spread of the internet in the early 2000’s started out the trend of abbreviating everything in text messages, thus the short version of this little idiom was born as well.
The first Urban Dictionary article on s2g was made in 2006, with another one appearing a short 5 days later.
S2g is mostly encountered on the internet, or in online video games, where people defend their statements with these rather convincing characters.
It is still mostly unknown, not as widely used as other abbreviations, though on may meet with it one way or another, on their adventurous journeys through the dark caverns of the web.
