Meaning
What does Busty mean?
A (quite often blonde) woman, blessed by big breasts, often associated with stealing the gazes of the by passers… and wreaking havoc amongst the inattentive, wherever she walks.
Origin
What's the origin of Busty?
The word’s exact origin is unclear, though they place it to 1940’s USA.
The words bust and bosom – both originating from Latin – have been used in the English language ever since the 18th century. In the late 19th century, the word bust referred to the measurements of a female, around her breasts. At that time, the expression “buxom” was still in widespread use.
The birth of the final form of busty – as mentioned above – is placed in the USA, ravaged by the onslaughts of the Second World War. In the 50’s, bosomy replaced buxom, and busty replaced bosomy, becoming the preferred way to describe a woman of many talents in one single word.
Spread & Usage
How did Busty spread?
Their dads made it, but it was the boomers who kept on spreading the word, eventually allowing it to be embraced by all the English speaking communities.
Arguably, its use has peaked since the birth of the internet, especially in the “Categories” section of adult entertainment sites.
