Suck it up Buttercup is a modern way of saying “get over it” or “deal with it”.

It is mainly used to add an ironic/sarcastic undertone as a reply to somebody complaining about something bad that happened to them, telling them to just move on and get over it.

It is also the title of a movie published in mid 2014 which became quite a success and has a high rating of 8.1 on ImDb.


What's the origin of Suck it up Buttercup?

 The phrase Suck it up Buttercup has actually been around for quite some time and had it´s first entry in the Urban Dictionary in November 2004.

Some of the first Memes around the catchphrase included Gunnery Sgt. Hartman of the globally successful movie “Full Metal Jacket” pointing his finger, aligned with the quote “Suck it up Buttercup”.
