What does Sussy mean?

Sussy is a popular synonym for SUS, with both expressions being used as an abbreviated version of the term “suspicious”, closely tied to the video game Among Us.

“Sussy” may also be encountered in a different slang expression, related to Among Us: “Sussy Baka”, which is a composite of the titular term and the Japanese pejorative term, widely known by Weebs, and which translates to something like fool.

The video game Among Us is a video game, reminiscent of The Town of Salem, where an impostor is thinning a group of players, who must find the impostor.

In the game, the group is trying to determine who the killer is, by looking at their behavior, and if someone acts “Sussy”, they vote on killing the player.

Among Us was first released on mobile platforms on June 15th, 2018, and in 2019 it was gaining new players rapidly.

The game’s popularity reached new heights in the summer of 2020, when it was widely endorsed by players globally and spawned plenty of memes online.

It was around this time, that both SUS and “Sussy” first appeared online.

How did Sussy spread?

Thanks to the popularity of memes and the game, “Sussy” became a widely recognized and used slang equivalent of the term “suspicious” and it became a cornerstone of Zoomer slang, like Bussin and Lit.

Urban Dictionary definitions started appearing on the term in 2020, with a veritable plethora of entries appearing in 2021 and 2022.
